Inanimate Characters Redefine Authenticity
Inanimates are the new authenticity in social media. When they are perceived freed from the filters of their corporate bosses, they express ideas in plain language that their audience craves. But there are many pitfalls in tone, vocabulary and character limitation.
Because it is performance art, the voice of an inanimate character on social media require the skills of improv, quick wit and repartee. The inanimate character voice must be engaging and culturally-aware to build a community. The voice must give its audience permission to suspend belief. It is no longer enough to use brand-sanctioned, stale puns in tweets.
This session will examine the voice of the inanimate and its role in building an identity for a brand, organization and community.
