Bent Shapes
Bent Shapes is a Boston-based pop group led by songwriting team Andy Sadoway and Ben Potrykus. Since forming under the name Girlfriends in 2009, the band has released a string of cassettes and 7”s full of fuzzy garage, jangle pop, and post-punk on various labels (including band members’ own imprints), earning them positive reviews from writers at Pitchfork, Spin, NPR, Wire, and Maximum Rocknroll. Comparisons from these outlets invoke the band’s myriad influences, referencing touchstones like Josef K, The Feelies, Jonathan Richman, and The Fall, and the last few years have seen Bent Shapes supporting acts as diverse as Ted Leo, Dum Dum Girls, The Bats, and Scratch Acid. Their debut full-length, Feels Weird, was released in 2013 on San Francisco, garnering further critical praise and spurring a national tour with John Vanderslice. They are currently writing a follow-up to Feels Weird, to be recorded later this year.
