Blues-influenced grunge band Slothrust is a power trio consisting of guitarist/vocalist Leah Wellbaum, bassist Kyle Bann, and drummer Will Gorin. Jazz and blues graduates of Sarah Lawrence College, the three gravitate toward music that is heavy and full of lyrical grit, dynamically fusing the rawness of the 90s with contemporary edge. Slothrust’s tight rhythms complement Wellbaum’s distinctively aggressive female voice.

Slothrust is a favorite at a variety of DIY spaces and East Coast colleges. They have also has performed at venues across the country, including The Mercury Lounge (NYC), Pianos (NYC), Howlin’ Wolf Den (New Orleans), The Bottleneck (Lawrence, KS), Lovejoys (Austin, TX), The Comet (Seattle), Grant & Green Saloon (San Francisco), Great Scott (Boston), Strange Matter (Richmond, VA) and Glasslands (Brooklyn). They have shared the stage with acts such as The Skins, She Keeps Bees, Real Estate, Cymbals Eat Guitars, The Giraffes, Moon Hooch, Pile, Tidal Arms, Speedy Ortiz and Viva Mayday. Following their debut LP released, Feels Your Pain, Slothrust has toured several times nationally and regionally. The trio was voted “Band of the Month” by the New York Deli in the fall of 2012. Slothrust also was voted “Band of the Month” by the New England Deli in March of 2011 after its song “Misnomer” was featured in the Invictus Pics section.
