Cathleen Murphy is VP of A&R for Sony Masterworks, Sony’s Adult-Crossover & Classical label. She works with some of the world’s most acclaimed recording artists including Yo-Yo Ma, Gustavo Santaolalla, Lang Lang, Joshua Bell, Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi as well as new artists 2Cellos, Kat Edmonson, Gabriel Kahane & The Piano Guys among many others.
She has also helped develop the artist rosters for Masterworks Broadway (including Grammy-winning cast recordings for ‘Once’ and ‘Kinky Boots’)as well as Masterworks' recent re-ignition of Adult-Contemporary imprint, Portrait.
Cathleen has spent equal time in her career in both Music Publishing and Recording, with executive positions at both MCA/Universal Music & EMI Music Publishing and the A&R departments of both Epic & Hollywood Records.

I am an artist manager representing Abigail Washburn (claw hammer banjo player, US-China musical ambassador & TED Fellow), The Wu-Force (a trio featuring Washburn, Beijing-based guzheng virtuoso, Wu Fei, and multi-instrumentalist, Kai Welch), internationally celebrated pianist and composer, Rachel Grimes and dark R&B, live electronic producer/performer, Fine Peduncle.
I began my career in music as Executive Assistant to Ashley Capps, CEO and Founder of AC Entertainment (Bonnaroo, Big Ears, Mountain Oasis, Forecastle). I was formerly head of the Artist Management department at AC working with inventive artists such as Trixie Whitley, Clare & the Reasons and Julia Nunes among others. A huge Francophile, I have a masters degree in French & Linguistics and was a French Lecturer at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, before working in music.
