Kidnap Kid

Kidnap Kid finds himself alongside the top names in the newly emerging UK “Future Bass” scene. Originally picked up by Sheffield imprint Squelch and Clap and recently signed to Black Butter, Kidnap Kid (aka Matt Relton), contributes as a pioneer and originator of an increasingly popular sound born from a generation of tech-savvy young producers.
Kidnap Kid produces tracks that manage to push all the right buttons without dipping into the usual bag of tricks. He concocts a delicate balance between complex yet smooth breaks, slow but active build-ups, and muted whilst powerful follow-throughs. Using his finite articulation of the harmony of sounds, Kidnap Kid has created an audio aesthetic for himself that is reminiscent of the phrase, “You don’t have to shout to be heard.”
After touring Europe as a DJ, releasing his debut Alphaville EP on Black Butter, and compiling a strong run of official remixes for Emeli Sande, The Other Tribe, Jonas Rathman and The Milk, Kidnap Kid is now moving forward, experimenting with and creating new beats that will continue to push the creative limits of his sound.
Big name support (including a BBC Radio One Maida Vale session) – Annie Mac, Rob Da Bank, Skream, Redlight, Rudimental, Pet Shop Boys, Vince Clarke.
