Bombasta
Bombasta has performed through out Texas and beyond, from the west coast of central Mexico to workshopping and teaching kids in Georgia; this unique musical ensemble carries the pride of San Antonio's barrio streets on their back, where ever they travel. Bombasta has been fortunate enough to share the stage with some great national and international acts, including: Los Lobos, Sergent Garcia, B-Side Players, Salvador Santana, Kinky, Charanga Cakewalk, Tropa F, Pistolera and Grupo Fantasma, just to name a few and have been known to be joined on stage by the likes of Esai Morales, Edward James Olmos, Jesse Borrego and DJ Kane.
The nine piece collective, Bombasta, has quickly evolved from a barrio art house big band into an underground musical movement. With a strong mix of Spanglish politics and roots passion, this San Antonio, TX based ensemble utilizes a full horn-section, accordion, turntables, guitars, keyboards and lots of percussion, to create a soundtrack for the new Americano experience. The cross pollination of cultural identities along the Texas/Mexico border has given way to Bombasta's unique and signature sound- a mix of cumbia, reggae, hip hop and salsa, that transcends any specific genre.
