Mike Rocket
Singer-songwriter Mike Rocket will be making his SXSW debut this year, performing the first set of the entire music festival! Rocket has been consistently rocking the New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia areas for over 10 years as a solo artist and with his band, Mike Rocket And The Stars. The shows are packed with passion and energy. Fan favorites include "Two Girls In America", "The Procrastinator", and "Gotta Get To The Jersey Shore". The new single, "Cool, Cool Summertime", was just released in the past few days.
Several songs on his latest CD, "21 Songs", have been on major radio stations. "Gotta Get To The Shore" has received the most airtime.
Mike has also played at various venues around the country and in Europe.
He is a regular performer at Light of Day, a benefit for Parkinson's disease, which often includes an appearance by Bruce Springsteen.
Rocket has been nominated several times in the Asbury and Philly Music Awards.
In addition, Rocket has also been recognized as a diligent self-promoting artist, able to place his music on national television shows including The Today Show & The Tonight Show. He has also appeared several times on The Early Show.
The Stars for Mike's big showcase will consist of Christina LaRocca on backup vocals as well as local Austin rockers Andres Villegas (guitar), Tom Mitchell (bass), Patrick Barrow (drums), and Travis Drake (saxophone).
