Jason Pascal is currently Vice President, Licensing & Associate General Counsel at The Orchard, a physical and digital distributor of independent music and video. The Orchard has been in business for 15 years, and distributes recordings by 12,000 labels via 600+ retail outlets worldwide, with offices in 25 countries. Jason’s prior experience included his own film/music/telecommunications law practice from 2002-2005, running the music division at the 1st ad-supported, digital distribution model, called PlayJ, from 1999-2001, and Legal and Business Affairs at BMG International from 1996-1999.
Jason is admitted to the bars of New York and Tennessee, and attended the University of Michigan and Brooklyn Law School.
Isaac Bess started in the music business in 1994 at New York's famed Matador Records. After stints in Tokyo as a music journalist, and ten years in San Francisco at independent labels (Quannum Projects) and independent distributors (IODA), Isaac joined YouTube's Business Development team in 2011. His rendition of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence" is totally amazing.
At 22 years old – Larry Mills started his career in the music business by launching an independent record company called Steam Records. Steam Records put out early releases by Rusted Root, Lisa Loeb, Shawn Mullins, Kristian Bush (Sugarland) and Steve Ellis, the founder of Pump Audio.
Larry went on to start a second label, Autonomous Records, which launched the careers of platinum artists Sister Hazel and Creed. Autonomous was acquired by Roadrunner Records in 1997. After a brief run with Roadrunner Records, Larry started a few entertainment companies including an artist management company, a television production company and sports marketing firm.
In 2006 Larry was hired by Pump Audio as their VP of Marketing and Partnerships one year before Pump was acquired by Getty Images, where Larry became their Director of Music Products.
It was from there in February of 2011, that Larry was recruited to become the first VP of Strategic Marketing for Sony/ATV Music Publishing, where he currently looks for new and interesting ways to promote, develop and monetize songs and songwriters from one of the largest music publishers in the world.
Brian Felsen (President, CD Baby / BookBaby / HostBaby): Mr. Felsen is the President of CD Baby, the world's largest online distributor of independent music. He also helms BookBaby, which digitally distributes the works of independent authors, poets, memoirists, and publishers, making their eBooks available to digital retailers worldwide (including Apple iBookstore, Barnes & Noble.com, Sony's Reader Store, and Amazon.com). Previous activities include founding and running one of the largest independent music conferences in the world, composing several classical music works, creating art photography, poetry, and plays, and producing an award-winning documentary film about Turkish military coups d’état.
