Reviews are so Web 2.0 – the next generation of crowdsourcing goes well beyond a simple user-generated review. But, how can companies utilize the power of the crowd to build content and, ultimately, their business? Does the power of the crowd still have value in today’s web and mobile economy? What kind of information can be mined, and what results can realistically be expected from content supplied by users? Crowdsource experts will discuss the pros and cons of crowdsourcing and the types of content that can be solicited and mined from users, which can help alleviate overall business costs, and cover the possible business implications of relying on crowdsourced information.

Brad Gerstner Founder & Chairman Room 77

Brad is an investor and entrepreneur, and the founder and CEO of Boston based hedge fund Altimeter Capital Management, which focuses on travel, technology and the Internet. He is also the founder and chairman of new hotel search engine Room 77. Previously, Brad was a partner at PAR Capital where he invested in companies like Farecast, Sidestep, ITA Software, Priceline, and Expedia. Prior to joining PAR Capital, he co-founded Openlist.com – a vertical search and advertising platform that was acquired by Marchex (MCHX – NASDAQ) in 2006. Before Openlist, Mr. Gerstner served as Co-CEO of National Leisure Group, one of the Web’s first and largest sellers of online vacations and cruises. He joined NLG from General Catalyst, a Boston venture capital firm that invested in NLG in May 2000. Brad currently serves on the board of Orbitz Worldwide, Nor 1, Hotel Tonight and Silver Rail Technologies and is an investor in several companies, including other interesting startups like Hotel Tonight, Nor 1, RealSelf, Ostrovok and Trigger Media.

Rich Barton is Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Zillow. Rich served as CEO & Chairman from 2005 until September 2010 when he passed the CEO baton to Spencer Rascoff. Before co-founding Zillow, Rich founded Expedia.com, the world's largest travel agency. Expedia was started within Microsoft in 1994, and then spun out in 1999 as a public company; Rich served as President, CEO and Board Director until 2003. Rich also co-founded and serves as Non-Executive Chairman of unique jobs site, Glassdoor.com and mobile discovery app, Trover, and he co-founded Intertainment gameshow, King of the Web. Rich is also a venture partner at Benchmark Capital and on the boards of directors at Netflix, Nextdoor, Avvo, RealSelf.com and YearUp.org.
