Hays Holladay is one half of the music duo BLUEBRAIN, along with his brother, Ryan Holladay. In the three years since they began, this Washington DC based duo has become as well known for their innovative approaches to music as they have for the music itself. Last year, they released the world's first location-aware album: an album designed exclusively as an iPhone app that uses the phone's built in GPS capabilities to alter the music as the listener traverses a landscape. The first one, 'The National Mall', was composed and mapped for the park in downtown Washington DC and was followed last Fall by Central Park ('Listen to the Light') for use within the park in Manhattan. A musical "choose-your-own-adventure" that links music to a specific place, their work has been featured in everything from The New York Times to WIRED. The Washington Post called 'The National Mall' the year's most innovative pop release ("like using GPS to navigate a dream.")
Now, BLUEBRAIN releases 'The Violet Crown', their third location-aware composition for SXSW in Austin, Texas in conjunction with SXSW Interactive. Each street within the festival grounds is a new musical landscape to be explored as the listener walks through a surreal musical landscape.
BLUEBRAIN will perform live with Frank Warren of Post Secret at the Convention Center on Sunday, March 11th.
Fireman is the creative force behind video, web, and social media projects that have helped to fuel meteoric growth of clients such as Post Secret. The agency is currently partnering with actor and comedian Denis Leary and Apostle, Leary’s TV and Film Production company, to blur the lines between broadcast and social media by developing a new form of celebrity roast called “Tweet Roast.” We are off to New Hampshire to work with our client Algonquin Books on a live bookclub broadcast of the not too often seen in public Stephan King.
Creators of Vivo Live, a live web-based broadcasting platform, Fireman loves to operate at the crossroads of interactive video, community building, and social engagement.
