What It's Like is a true story. John - a magazine writer - visits Mastow, a complete stranger living in a retirement home. John has only a room number and a name, both written on the back of a Chinese food menu beside a single, circled word: 'Mushrooms.' What starts as a bizarre transaction becomes a moment of connection. This is a story about being afraid to get old. It's about the ways in which losing people affects us. It's about talking with people from a different generation. It's also kind of about hallucinogens.
