Rei is an up-and-coming singer and guitarist, gaining prominence with her impressive guitar skills and voice, contrasted with her young age and doe-like looks.
Born in 1993 in Hyogo, Japan, Rei spent her childhood years in New York, making her fully bilingual in English and Japanese, which she incorporates into her self-penned lyrics. Having started classic guitar at the age of 4, she became fascinated with blues music at 5, and still lists Johnny Winter, Blind Blake, JB Lenoir, Jeff Land, BECK, tUnI-yArDx, HIATUS KAIYOTE, etc, as some of her favorite musicians and inspirations. Rei primarily uses an acoustic guitar in her performances, but simulates the electric guitar by using the effects pedal and creating audio feedback with the guitar amplifier, allowing her to perform a wide range of songs and genres.

Since then, she’s garnered appraise for her performances at major Japanese rock events such as Fuji Rock, Rising Sun, Peter Barakan’s Live Magic, etc. Her 2nd mini album was released in November 2015, and aside from being completely self-produced, it also included seven brand new tracks. Rei also self-designs all her CD covers, and even photographed Jpop-rock band, Base Ball Bear’s artist photo before.
