RP Boo, known as ‘The Godfather of Footwork Music’ shyly thinks of himself as an inventor.
RP started his journey of Footwork sounds as a DJ. He first performed as DJ Boo and began spinning his unique sounds on the Southside of Chicago, in Englewood. During that time, his sounds woke up Englewood’s party heads and before long he was being asked to dj three to four gigs a week. But it didn’t stop there…his sounds filtered and spread from the parties into Englewood homes. Followers of his sounds soon requested personal music for themselves. He would record his tracks onto 25 to 50 mixtapes at a time, which would always instantly sell out. These tracks inspired the party goers to develop a particular dance style to fit his beats. No name was given initially to the fast foot moves demonstrated on the floor. RP continued playing his tracks that were inspiring the fast dance styles, and soon birthed the name Footwork.

If the sounds are hittin’ tough…you will catch RP Footworkin’. RP remembers when Footwork began as a freestyle form, then evolved into choreographed groups performing on stages. As a former House and Footwork dancer, he performed with popular groups back when, such as Mega Move (90-93) to House-O-Matic (93-97).
When the Footwork party scene died, RP continued to make music. Fortunately, many years later, in October 2014, RP Boo got his first favorable opportunity to perform on stage for Unsound Festival in Krakow, Poland. From there, his ‘leaving you stuck’ sounds brought him to DJ in Madrid, Japan, London, and Denmark.
RP Boo is a master of oddness! His music takes you somewhere you need to be - FREE!! His style, his breaks, his beats, his rhythmic, his flow of music style cannot be robbed. It cannot be copied…it can only be played. His music is played all over, in the United States, London, Japan, Africa and recently made it to India. RP has written, composed, and produced his latest albums: ‘Bangs & Works Volume I’, ‘Bangs & Works Volume II’, ‘Legacy’ and recently release EP ‘RP Classics Volume I‘ under Planet Mu Records.
Five things to know about RP: God Lover, humble spirit, Educator/Mentor, loves to smile, and never stops perfecting his music. Freedom with drum-machines!!
