Toronto-born, buffalo-bred, Blake Carrington hits the refresh button on the current international Hip Hop scene. Combining his soulful delivery with cleverly crafted lines, he creates heartfelt, socially conscious, and inspired music relatable to many. He is an ambitious musician, who describe his plight as “failing forward” as he makes his dreams become a reality. Blake began rapping at an early age, closely admiring the styling of his father, Dedot, a well-respected hip-hop legend from Buffalo, NY. The apple definitely did not fall too far from the tree. Nurturing his passion and love for music and the industry, Blake graduated from Seneca College in Toronto, Ontario with a diploma in Independent Music Production.
In 2011, Blake released his Dare 2 Dream project, created and produced with super producer Ric Notes. The album was hosted by well-known DJs, LA Leakers, and gained a lot of recognition. Blake’s talents have since taken him all across the globe, from winning at the world famous Apollo theatre showcase twice to touring in Tokyo, Japan. His high energy and charismatic personality has led Blake to record, perform and share the stage with the music industry elite such as Talib Kweli and Snoop Dogg, to current hip hop sensations like G Eazy and Kendrick Lamar, and cross-genre electronic acts such as N.E.R.D. As the list grows, Blake continues uphold his reputation as a well-respected artist amongst his industry peers and idols.
Expanding his dreams and passion to a new level, Blake started his own company, OUISELFMADE, which covers music management, marketing, and film production. The Oui team has produced several videos but is currently working on the Failure Project and building on a Sneaker documentary, which looks at the relationship between sneaker enthusiasts and hip-hop. Carrington's ability to go after what he wants has opened up various tour opportunities on the most popular concert circuits, including Sneaker Pimps, SXSW (South By South West), NXNE (North By North East), Manifesto Festival, and The Dope House concert series (2DopeBoyz).
