Optimo Radio is hosted by Optimo Ram born and raised in SW Houston, forging a relationship with the cities underground rap scene at an early age after discovering the Geto Boys, Street Military, and the SPC. Ram founded Optimo Radio in 2010 and has established a team of determined people who are tired of what mainstream media has to offer, and strives to provide the best avenue for underground artists to get their music heard.
Optimo Radio plays the best, new and classic, of the Texas underground rap scene. Live from Houston Tx, Optimo Radio broadcasts from Ramsterdam and Screwed Up Records & Tapes. Featuring live shows like Screwed Up Records & Tapes Radio w/ DJ Red to #ScrewMondays, to New Music Tuesday, #ClassicWednesdays all the way to Friday Eve w/ Justice Allah. Optimo Radio focuses on music with a message, bringing back social commentary and lyricism to the streets.
Over the last 4 years Optimo Radio has received multiple awards and nominations. In 2013, Houston Press ranked Optimo Radio as the BEST Internet Radio Station in Houston. As part of LocalLive in 2012, Optimo Radio received Best Radio Station by Houston Press in Houston of all stations, including the mega FM stations. (This was the last time this award was given, and has since been done away with) Nominations that include Best Radio Station, Best Radio Program & Best Radio Personality and have received quite a few write ups in various publications throughout the region.
