In his Grammy acceptance speech for Best Rock Performance, Dave Grohl rallied musicians around the world with a battle cry for bringing back the human element to music. As if answering that call, Saints of Valory has burst onto the music scene in the Southern U.S. with a new breed of impassioned rock to stir the hearts and minds of music fans everywhere.
The quartet has a truly multi-national background, with members hailing from the all over the world: singer Gavin Jasper from Brazil, Frenchman drummer Gerard Bouvier, Canadian Stephen Buckle on keys, and the lone American, Godfrey Thomson on guitar. Three of the four members are the children of missionary parents, who spent their young lives traveling the globe, immersed in different cultures. They all found themselves in Rio de Janeiro in 2009 and, sharing similar childhood experiences and a genuine love for making music, formed Saints of Valory.

After attending SXSW together in 2010, inspired by the musical culture and creativity, Saints of Valory relocated to Austin, Texas, where they recorded their debut EP, The Bright Lights, in a marathon eight-day session. The independent release was well-received at Triple A radio and spawned a top 50 hit nationwide with “Providence.” By the end of 2011, SOV had clocked over 650 reported spins at monitored & indicator stations across the country.

SOV’s striking guitar, tinkling keyboards and dramatic drumming create a musical tapestry that reflects their international upbringing, drawing influences from music around the globe. Armed with these ear-worm inducing melodies, pitch-perfect harmonies and emotional, heartfelt lyrics, the band hit the scene in their new hometown, quickly earning a devoted following through their intense live performances and genuine interest in interacting with their fans. After less than 6 months on the scene, their efforts earned them top 10 placement in six categories at the Austin Chronicle’s 2011 Music Awards. In 2011, national touring brought a broader audience on board at events such as indie act who’s who SXSW, CMJ and rising coastline music festival DeLuna Fest.

2012 promises to be an even more exciting year for the Saints. In late 2011, the fellas headed to Music City, Nashville, TN to record with renowned producer Jason Lehning (Mat Kearney, Guster) in anticipation of an April 2012 release that is sure to cement their legacy as a band that brings individuality, creativity and heart back to rock music.
