Star & Dagger
In lieu of cold statistics, nationwide bamboozlement and the usual mind numbing malaise, Sean Yseult (White Zombie), vocalist Von Hesseling, guitarist Donna She Wolf (Cycle Sluts From Hell), guitarist Dave Catching (Eagles of Death Metal) and drummer Gene Trautmann (Queens of the Stone Age) offer up Star & Dagger: A subwoofer's cauldron forged by functional alcoholism, pharmaceutical voyage and junk drawer hallucinogens, steeped under a heavy contraband haze that hangs low enough to embrace the Almighty Downtrodden so they can revel in it.
The band formed in 2011 during an inspired flurry of recordings in Joshua Tree, resulting in their upcoming release “Tomorrowland Blues.” In the meantime they hightailed it to New Orleans, recording with Sean’s former bandmate J. Yuenger (White Zombie) in his private studio surrounded by swampy cemeteries. This resulted in a 3-song vinyl e.p. recently released by Last Hurrah Records titled “In My Blood”. Between all of this and much decadent hobnobbing, the band has managed to fit in live shows opening for the likes of Helmet, Eagles of Death Metal, and Masters of Reality, playing in LA, New Orleans and Joshua Tree. The music is heavy blues metal topped with the lovely vocal stylings of Von Hesseling, the lovechild of Cherie Currie and Anita Pallenberg.
