Bryonn Bain is a poet, actor, prison activist, hip hop theater innovator and spoken word champion. His award winning stage and screen work includes the Tony nominated “For Colored Girls…” on Broadway, and performances in the Emmy winning “LA Stories.” Wrongfully imprisoned while at Harvard Law, Bryonn’s story went viral even before he shared it with 20 million on “60 Minutes.” Through hip hop, theater, spoken word, blues, calypso and comedy, his multimedia theater production “Lyrics From Lockdown” tells his experience of unjust imprisonment, with the hijinks of a dysfunctional Caribbean immigrant Brooklyn family, and the genius and gallows humor of those facing the incarceration of their loved ones — including a friend and fellow poet thrown on death row at 17 years old.
