Lisa Matthews
Lisa Matthews is a seasoned journalist with over 20 years at the Associated Press (AP), where she serves as Planning Editor for U.S. News. In 2021, she became the 114th President of the National Press Club, leading its first all-woman leadership team and expanding outreach to HBCUs by offering journalism and communications graduates free one-year memberships. A two-time Edward R. Murrow Award winner, she was recognized for her coverage of September 11, 2001, and Video Continuing Coverage of the Economy in 2010. Matthews is also the first working journalist inducted into the National Capital Chapter PRSA Hall of Fame. She holds a BA in communications from James Madison University.
