Jack Steele | Biography
Jack Steele, a proud Wiradjuri man, is an award-winning Writer, Director, and Producer with over 16 years of experience in the Australian film industry. Known for his ability to craft powerful, socially resonant stories, Jack has emerged as a leading voice in contemporary filmmaking, amplifying underrepresented perspectives and shedding light on critical issues.

Jack’s career launched with the critically acclaimed short film Between Two Lines (2018), which premiered at the Sydney Film Festival and ImagiNative in Canada. Created in collaboration with renowned filmmaker Warwick Thornton and producer Mitchel Stanley, the film cemented Jack as a talent to watch.

In 2021, Jack made waves with the Amazon Prime Video series UNHEARD, which he wrote, directed, produced, and edited. Tackling topics like Indigenous Deaths in Custody, the series became Prime Video’s most-watched factual documentary of the year, garnering global acclaim.

Jack’s contributions to storytelling expanded in 2022 as a writer on the International Emmy Award-winning ABC Kids wildlife series Built to Survive, hosted by Phil Breslin. He also gained invaluable experience that year as a Director Attachment under Taika Waititi on Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder.

Currently, Jack is leading a slate of groundbreaking projects. These include Native Kitchen, a Boardwalk Pictures production (renowned for Chef’s Table), which delves into Indigenous culinary traditions, and Firekeepers, a documentary exploring cultural fire practices.

With a career defined by creativity, impact, and innovation, Jack Steele continues to inspire audiences worldwide, leaving an indelible mark on global storytelling.
