Liv Williamson

Program Manager
Revive and Restore

A lifelong nature nerd and outdoor enthusiast, Liv is driven by a desire to help protect and champion wildlife and wild places. As Program Manager at Revive & Restore, Liv develops and oversees applied genetic rescue projects around the world. Working with endangered species from elephants to corals to frogs, she seeks new ways to leverage cutting-edge biotechnologies for wildlife conservation. Previously, as a scientist at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School, Liv led projects to restore threatened Caribbean corals, using “assisted evolution” approaches such as managed breeding and microbiome manipulation to boost coral genetic diversity and climate resilience. Aside from research, Liv has long shared her passion for the natural world through science communication, education, and citizen science, in hopes of empowering people of all backgrounds to participate in marine conservation and be environmental stewards. She is an award-winning scientific writer and communicator and has been featured in national broadcasts, including CBS’s "60 Minutes" and PBS’ "Weathered." Liv has a Ph.D. in Marine Biology and Ecology from the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School and a B.A. in Environmental Science from Barnard College.
