Karl Richter
Karl Richter’s 25 year + in the music industry spans radio to A&R and sync to music tech. An avid champion of independent artists Karl was responsible for signing burgeoning punk and alternative acts in the late 90s at Australia’s renowned, independent Mushroom Records.
Karl founded Level Two Music in 2002 - a company that evolved from an independent record label into Australia’s leading music supervision agency. Level Two’s music supervision work over 22 years has been recognised both locally and on an international stage. 2024 work has so far won a best Sync in Advertising at the prestigious Music + Sound Awards and Silver Clio for best sync.
Working as a supervisor and frustrated by the lack of any intuitive software that understood the creative workflow needs of music industry professionals, Karl created DISCO. Today, DISCO is used by over 1,000 global teams across the entire music ecosystem managing over 110M files - including major labels, film studios, and chart-topping creators.
Karl has a keen interest in the intersection at which music and tech meet as well as the role of A&R in creative company building. Karl continues to support the role of the artist in the ever changing music industry environment. He holds a strong belief in the importance of sustainable artist empowerment, the power of human creativity and the democratization of music via discovery.
