Mohamed Alsalami is a space systems engineer specializing in spacecraft design, payload development, and thermal analysis. He is currently a System Engineer for the Airlock Module on NASA’s Lunar Gateway, contributing to the design and integration of critical deep-space infrastructure, while also leading the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) Gateway Liaison Office at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC) to strengthen international partnerships in space exploration. With a Master’s in Aerospace Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Sharjah, his expertise spans spacecraft thermal management, mission design, sounding rockets ,missile structure optimization and payload integration. At MBRSC, he has played a key role in payload system engineering, thermal and mechanical analysis for space missions, and the development of RF and optomechanical payloads, including serving as the thermal lead for the MBZ-Sat mission, one of the most advanced Earth observation satellites. His contributions extend beyond engineering to strategic collaboration, enhancing the UAE’s involvement in lunar and deep-space missions. His research on thermal validation of optical payloads has been published at the International Astronautical Congress, and he has received innovation grants from the Expo 2020 Innovation Fund. Committed to advancing the UAE’s space sector, he continues to contribute to cutting-edge space technologies and international cooperation in human spaceflight and exploration
