Mohamed AlSalami

Mohamed Alsalami is a space systems engineer specializing in spacecraft design, payload development, and thermal analysis. He is currently a System Engineer for the Airlock Module on NASA’s Lunar Gateway, contributing to the design and integration of critical deep-space infrastructure, while also leading the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) Gateway Liaison Office at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC) to strengthen international partnerships in space exploration. With a Master’s in Aerospace Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Sharjah, his expertise spans spacecraft thermal management, mission design, sounding rockets ,missile structure optimization and payload integration. At MBRSC, he has played a key role in payload system engineering, thermal and mechanical analysis for space missions, and the development of RF and optomechanical payloads, including serving as the thermal lead for the MBZ-Sat mission, one of the most advanced Earth observation satellites. His contributions extend beyond engineering to strategic collaboration, enhancing the UAE’s involvement in lunar and deep-space missions. His research on thermal validation of optical payloads has been published at the International Astronautical Congress, and he has received innovation grants from the Expo 2020 Innovation Fund.
