Ralph Torrefranca
With 17+ years in the music industry under his belt, it’s no wonder that music has always been a real passion for Ralph Torrefranca. Starting his career as the youngest DJ in KJEE’s history in Santa Barbara, he moved onto doing PR for the likes of Ben Gibbard, Jackson Brown as well as touring with artists Other Lives, Radiohead and Local Natives. Then Ralph found his passion working directly with artists – helping to launch and grow their careers while sharing a mutual love of songwriting as part of teams at Red Light Management and Grandstand Media as well as managing artists independently.
As Sr. Director of A&R at Angry Mob Music, Ralph currently oversees creative development of the diverse songwriters/artists and producers that make up the A-Mob roster. As an early champion, Ralph identifies writers with a unique vision to their craft which includes his work with Bailey Bryan (Shaboozey, Kiana Lede), Jake Scott (Gold and Platinum #1 Records including Russel Dickerson's "She Likes It"), Joe Pepe (Iann Dior, Travis Barker) and Bus (Ty Dolla $ign, Kendrick Lamar) just to name a few. He is also the founder of the “New Normal Writing Camp”, a diversity focused writing camp that featured artists like UMI, Deb Never and more during its inaugural camp. Ralph has also published a popular Op-Ed in Billboard Magazine calling out the industry at large for the lack of diversity within writing rooms today.
In addition to A&R, Ralph is a long time artist and songwriter of 18+ years. He is currently the lead singer/guitarist of the national touring post-punk band Cuffed Up (KEXP, KCRW, BBC Radio) who have appeared at festivals like SXSW (Official artists 2022, 2024) across the US.
Ralph is also an award-winning writer and director. His short film Champagne Social premiered at The 2019 IFS Film Festival in LA where Ralph was named “Best Director” at the fest. His feature screenplay “RIFF” also made the Top 20% of the Academy Nicholl Fellowship in 2021.
