Randy Joe Haaga
Randy Haaga started his professionally career in the music business as a drummer in the mid 80’s. He later became the manager of a DIY rock band for a solid 5 years touring the US and Canada in his early 20’s. It was a dream job, but without much pay, benefits or warning of the last day. Randy worked much of the 90’s at Southwest Wholesale, a historically important place for Texas Rap and other regional music. It was the initial distributor for most of the early Texas Rap on CD and cassette.
In the mid 90’s Mr. Haaga opened his own CD shop and started an online store focusing on the same regional music originating from Southwest Wholesale. As physical CD distribution began to fall apart at the dawn of the digital music age Randy was poised at the right place and the right time. He launched SoSouth Music Distribution in 2005 when Itunes was barley 2 years old and years before Spotify launched. It caught on fast with the company picking up hundreds of significant customers in the first couple years. Randy signed artists and catalogs like DJ Screw, Big Moe, Lil’ Keke, Slim Thug and later hot new acts like Finesse2tymes and Megan Thee Stallion.
Mr. Haaga continues to be the president of SoSouth, now distributing via Virgin Music Group a part of Universal Music along with the added service of SoSouth’s Music Publishing administration directly thru Universal Music Publishing worldwide.
