Neil Theise
Neil Theise, MD, is a professor of pathology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. His clinical work in liver disease is foundational for worldwide liver cancer screening, while his scientific studies pioneered the field of adult stem cell plasticity. Dr. Theise’s demonstration that the human interstitium is a body-wide communication network is transformative for dialogues across global cultures of health and healing. His recent book, Notes on Complexity: A Scientific Theory of Connection, Consciousness, and Being, explains complexity for a general audience with transdisciplinary implications for consciousness studies, sustainability, and science-religion dialogue. It received the 2024 Nautilus Book Award Gold Medal in science. He is a senior Zen student at Village Zendo in NYC.
