Andrea Ortega Bastidas
My name is Andrea Ortega Bastidas, I'm 23 years old and from Mexico. I am passionate about the agricultural process and its evolution over the years, particularly in terms of the integration of technology and the development of new, efficient production methods. I have experience working with vine crops in greenhouses, and I always maintain a positive outlook, driven to learn from professionals in various fields not only in agronomy but also from different parts of the world enriching my perspective through their cultures and expertise.
At 15, I had the opportunity to participate in an exchange program in Canada, where I completed my final year of middle school. This experience broadened my global perspective. After returning to Mexico to complete high school, I enrolled in an International Business program at university and studied for two years. However, my mother, who at the time was a greenhouse director, sparked my interest in agriculture. This led me to shift my academic focus and pursue a degree in Protected Agriculture Engineering.
During my studies, I won a scholarship to attend a horticulture course in South Korea, an experience that transformed my professional aspirations. The government support I witnessed in South Korea, both in financial resources and knowledge transfer, deeply inspired me.
I am currently completing my professional internship in the Digital Agronomy department at WayBeyond and will graduate in December 2024. I am eager to make the most of the technological and professional resources available, develop my creativity, and continue learning. I strongly believe that we must seek new ways to produce food more sustainably while continuously improving our methods. I am excited to contribute positively to the agricultural sector with my ideals and professional aspirations
