Christian Belady
Christian Belady, with over four decades in the industry and more than 150 patents, has significantly enhanced global data center energy efficiency. During his 16-year tenure at Microsoft, he led global data center development and pioneered innovations in cooling and power generation. As a "Distinguished Engineer," Belady's impact spans beyond Microsoft; he originated the Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) metric at Hewlett Packard and co-published Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE) and Carbon Usage Effectiveness (CUE) with the Green Grid, shaping industry standards. Recently, he received the Data Center Icon Award and was elected to the US National Academy of Engineering, underscoring his profound influence and achievements in the field.
