Kirsten Hall
Dr. Kirsten Hall is an astrophysicist who also harnesses the power of Earth-observing satellites to tackle climate change. In astronomy, she studies the evolution of galaxies and the growth of structure in the Universe. As a 2020 Schmidt Science Fellow, she pivoted into climate science to use her expertise to convert raw satellite data and reanalysis data into actionable information to improve climate models and inform policy. This work focuses primarily on atmospheric rivers and their connection to large-scale climate dynamics. As a first-generation college graduate, she brings a unique perspective to higher education and public engagement. She strives to build trust in science, particularly regarding climate change, and aims to improve the relationship between humans and the Earth.
