Rachel Scholes
Dr. Rachel Scholes (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia. Her research is focused on enhancing urban water systems through innovative treatment methods for trace contaminants. She developed a novel treatment process for waste brine that integrates engineered and natural systems to improve water quality. Her work also includes advancing analytical methods for detecting trace contaminants and studying their photochemical transformations. Dr. Scholes earned her MS and PhD in Environmental Engineering from UC Berkeley and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University. Her publications address water reuse, contaminant removal, and environmental health.
