Azie Dungey
Azie Dungey (Pamunkey/African American) is a WGA award-nominated and Emmy-nominated writer for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, under showrunners Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. She was most recently book writer for The Preacher’s Wife Musical that debuted at the Alliance Theatre. Credits include: Rutherford Falls (Peacock), Girls5Eva (Netflix), Harlem (Amazon), and Sweetbitter (STARZ). She’s best known for critically-acclaimed comedy Youtube series Ask A Slave, a satirical critique of US history with over 2.5 million views, featured on NPR, BBC World, MSNBC, New York Mag, Washington Post. A graduate of NYU in drama and anthropology, she’s been visiting scholar to Yale, Brown, Columbia, and Fellow-in-Residence at the Center for the Study of Democracy, St Mary’s College.
