Albert Cahn
Albert Fox Cahn is the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project’s (S.T.O.P.’s) founder and executive director. As a lawyer, technologist, academic, and activist, Albert has become a leading voice on how to govern and build the technologies of the future. He started S.T.O.P. with the belief that local surveillance is an unprecedented threat to public safety, equity, and democracy.
Albert’s work has consistently put him at the forefront of tech policy and civil society discourse over the past decade. He’s led major protests, become a fixture in the media, and written for some of the most prominent publications on the planet. He routinely litigates against some of the largest companies and police departments in America, and he helps draft new laws to regulate emerging technologies.
