Albert Garcia-Romeu, PhD
Albert Garcia-Romeu, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He examines the effects of psychedelics in humans, especially addiction. He earned his doctorate in psychology, studying self-transcendence, spiritual experiences, and their relationship to mental health. After his postdoctoral fellowship in behavioral pharmacology at JHU, training in clinical research with psychedelics, he joined the faculty. Current research: clinical applications of psychedelics, real-world drug use patterns, diversity in science, and the role of spirituality in mental health. He is a founding member of the JHU Center for Psychedelic & Consciousness Research and the International Society for Research on Psychedelics.
