Edward Ajhar
Dr. Ajhar held positions as physics professor, department chair, interim dean, and institute director at St. Thomas University in Miami. He served temporarily as Program Director in NSF's Division of Astronomical Sciences from 2011 to 2014, served as Expert in 2015, and returned to the Division as Program Director on a permanent basis in January 2016. Dr. Ajhar received bachelor's (1986) and PhD (1992) degrees in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as well as a Master of Music degree (1997) in Performance (Conducting) from The University of Arizona. Dr. Ajhar’s primary research interests are in the areas of cosmology, large-scale structure of the Universe, structure and evolution of galaxies, black holes in galaxies, and globular star clusters.
