Jaime Banks
Dr. Jaime Banks is Associate Professor and Katchmar-Wilhelm Endowed Professor at the Syracuse University School of Information Studies (Syracuse, NY, USA). She leads the iSchool's LinkLab--a team of undergraduate, graduate, and faculty researchers investigating the dynamics of human-machine interaction, including those with videogame avatars, social robots, and social AI. Her specialty in this area is social cognition (mind perception and ascription) and moral judgments. In other words, she studies how people see 'someone' in machines and whether that someone is 'good' or 'bad.' She also investigates how people make sense of complex technologies and how media representations play a role in that sense-making. Current work on AI companions is supported by the NSF. 🤖🎮✨🧠😇😈 + 🐶🍷✈️🍊
