Raumesh Akbari
Minority Leader Raumesh Akbari was elected to the Tennessee State Senate in the fall of 2018 after serving three terms in the State House of Representatives. She represents District 29, which is based in Memphis. Leader Akbari serves as Vice-President of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators; Second Vice-Chair of the Senate Education Committee; and formerly as chair of the Tennessee Black Caucus of State Legislators. Leader Akbari continues to introduce legislation affecting education, criminal justice reform, job growth, and other areas that affect her constituents as well as Tennesseans from all walks of life. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and The Links, Inc.
