Cheryl Miller Houser
Cheryl Miller Houser is an award-winning documentary director, writer and producer who works with brands and nonprofits to help them tell emotionally engaging stories that spur connection and change. She also gives keynotes and workshops globally on how to harness the science and craft of storytelling, including 4-time featured speaker at SXSW and guides leaders in their storytelling. Some of her work as director, writer and producer includes: feature documentary GENERATION STARTUP following young people for 1 1⁄2 years launching startups in Detroit funded by PwC and UBS; 40 minute documentary TRUTH TO TRANSFORMATION for the Commissioner of Children and Families in NJ featuring people who grew up in foster care and are changing the system from within; and a range of moving mini-docs, brand commercials and web series featuring real people. Cheryl started her career producing award-winning films, including David O. Russell’s first movie SPANKING THE MONKEY, winner of the Sundance Audience Award, documentary CHILDREN OF DARKNESS (PBS) about children with mental illness nominated for an Academy Award and TRUST ME (Showtime) about an interfaith camp in rural North Carolina founded right after 9/11. She has also created hundreds of hours of top-rated nonfiction TV for outlets such as Nat Geo and the Discovery Channel.
