Location Matters: Optimizing America's Energy Transition
The areas of the U.S. facing some of the severest impacts of climate change and fossil fuel energy production have the least access to the benefits of clean power. The fragmented U.S. grid allows for huge variations in the mix of power generation sources across regions, and results in deep disparities in emissions intensity, pollution, and health outcomes. This panel will outline how emissionality, a measurement of the relative benefits of a renewable energy project based on location, can help site solar projects in areas where they have the most economic, environmental, and health impact.
