AI’s Impact on Creativity & the Commons

Date TBA

The training of generative AI tools on existing, copyrighted works is a source of significant controversy. Often, the preferences of creators and rightsholders are framed as an all-or-nothing binary – either works should never be used in training without permission, or such use should always be allowed. This panel will explore what effect this is having on creators, the commons, and opportunities for collaborative creativity.

Programming descriptions are generated by participants and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of SXSW.
