Changing The Tune On Streaming Pay: Are New Models Working?
Music streaming remuneration has entered a phase of transition, with Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer rolling out new measures to drive royalties towards professional artists and prevent bad actors from fraudulently gaming the system.
One year on, this panel will evaluate how minimum thresholds for payment, spatial audio bonuses, capping user monetization and demonetizing functional music have impacted revenue for rightsholders. It will also explore how these compensation models are influencing release strategies, and what other innovations might be necessary to further improve remuneration.
