Dawn Richard at Stubb’s
As a founding member of Danity Kane, Dawn Richard has explored the ins and outs of commercial pop
music. As a solo artist, over the span of six critically-acclaimed full-length albums, Richard treats
Louisiana Creole culture, New Orleans bounce, and Southern Swag as elemental, allowing her to
weave in and out of house, footwork, R&B, and more. As she proudly proclaimed on Second Line: “I am
the genre.” In addition to her solo musical output, Richard released Pigments, a neo-classical collaboration
with Spencer Zahn, which they performed at New York’s Winter Jazz Fest as well London Jazz Festival.
Their follow-up, Quiet in a World Full of Noise, is out now. She has also released collaborations
with Kaytranada, Trombone Shorty, Suzi Analogue, Flying Lotus, and more. Richard is a multi-hyphenate. Aside from being a musician and a producer, Richard has frequently directed and produced her own music videos; she’s a visual artist who has a longstanding collaboration with AdultSwim; she was an Artist-in-Residence at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute. She also has a longstanding history as a dancer and created a stage collaboration with the prestigious Alvin Ailey American
Dance Theater in 2025
