BLACK FONDU at Radio Day Stage at Rivian Park
BLACK FONDU, a 21-year-old artist born in Accra, Ghana, and based in London, is known for crafting immersive soundscapes that “blend electronic elements with hip-hop and abstract grime”—a genre the artist coins. Making waves since early 2024 the at various south london venues, supporting the likes of Shame and Fat Dog, as well as Detroit glitch-rap masters, HiTech, and New Orleans punk band Special Interest further afield, BLACK FONDU has been amassing a motley crew of punk, hip hop and avant-garde fans. Letting the visceral intensity of his live performances do the talking, his lyrics are often buried deep within the music, sometimes indistinguishable from his esoteric sonic world, and we are kept, fascinated, at arm’s length. Similarly, the artist's visual world is very much his own creation- as seen in the self-made video for 6Music B-listed track Another Domestic. There is the sense of the alien there, something incomprehensible, abrasive, yet addictive, as he patchworks his array of influences from the simple to the extreme. There is no telling where BLACK FONDU will go next, he feels like an artist who lives minute to minute, and it’s up to us to make sure we can keep up.
