Emily Lowery-Gionta

Dr. Emily Lowery-Gionta graduated from The College of New Jersey in 2006 and received her Doctoral degree in Psychology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) in 2011. She then completed post-doctoral fellowships at UNC's School of Medicine and the National Institute of Drug Abuse. Dr. Lowery-Gionta is currently the Section Chief of the Performance Assessment and Chemical Evaluation Laboratory at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. Dr. Lowery-Gionta leads a preclinical to clinical research program to deliver novel treatments for Acute Stress Reactions and other trauma-related disorders. Dr. Lowery-Gionta is married with three children. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading and cheering on the UNC Tarheels and NC State Wolfpack.
