Professor and Director of Contemplative Neuroscience
University of Miami

Neuroscientist Amishi Jha is a Professor of Psychology at the Univ. of Miami who studies how to keep the brain’s attention systems in peak shape. Her lab uses functional MRI, electroencephalography, and neurobehavioral techniques to understand why our attention sometimes fails us, and if it can be trained for greater focus and less distractibility. Jha launched the first-ever study to offer mindfulness training to active-duty soldiers preparing to deploy. She received a Ph.D. from the Univ. of California, Davis and postdoctoral training at Duke University. Her work has been featured at TED, NATO, the World Economic Forum, The Pentagon, NPR, Time, Forbes, and more. In her National Bestseller, Peak Mind, she shares how attention can be trained for optimal performance and well-being.
