Christina Chase
Christina stands at the forefront of sports technology and innovation as a Lecturer in the School of Engineering at MIT and the co-founder and Managing Director of the MIT Sports Lab. Her groundbreaking work facilitates collaborations between the lab and leading professional sports teams, leagues, and global brands, all united by the quest to unravel complex challenges at the intersection of sports, data, engineering, and innovation with the Lab’s most recent work part of the 2002 Men’s and 2003 Women’s FIFA World Cup Tournaments.
Beyond her leadership at the MIT Sports Lab, Christina is a pioneering educator, having introduced MIT’s first sports analytics and innovation class. She a contributing author to "21st Century Sports: How Technologies Will Change Sports in the Digital Age," published in 2021. Her dedication to nurturing new talent is evident from her tenure as the first Entrepreneur-in-Residence at MIT’s Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, where she guided numerous teams in turning their innovative concepts into successful companies.
Christina also extends her expertise to the startup ecosystem, serving as an advisor to sports technology startups and sharing her extensive entrepreneurial experience—experience that began when she founded her first company at the age of 18. She’s been a member of the External Evaluation Board for EIT Health European Union’s Institute of Innovation and Technology and a Co-Chair of the IEEE International Conference on Wearable and Implantable Body Sensor Networks (BSN), as well as a Techstars mentor.
Christina was a former competitive cyclist, selected by the US Cycling Federation as one of 12 to train at the US Olympic Training Center for the women’s team. She’s taught downhill skiing in Colorado, summited six of Colorado’s 14-ers in all weather, and her current passion for kiteboarding.
