Natalie Sanders
Originally from Philadelphia, Natalie Sanders brought Ballroom culture to Central Texas in 2015 with her first house and friends
Currently she’s the Legendary Founding Mother of the House of Lepore. Natalie organizes events that showcase ballroom culture, unite LGBTQIA+ individuals, and support queer Texans. In 2020, she was the first trans person to lead a march to the Texas Capitol for the Trans Pride & Black Lives Matter movement with 1,500 participants. The House of Lepore has been instrumental in introducing ballroom culture to the festival, making history with the first South by Southwest Ball in March 2021. When not performing or hosting, Natalie is a full-time social worker, aiding clients living with HIV. She has also taught dance classes at University of Texas.
In 2023, Sanders received DivInc's 2023 Space Maker of the Year award and The Mother of the Year award.
