Tara Murtha

Tara Murtha is the director of strategic communications at Women's Law Project, a state-based public interest legal organization strategizing to protect reproductive autonomy rights and advance gender justice in Pennsylvania and beyond.

Tara is at SXSW to discuss her work researching, writing about, and advocating to hold anti-abortion "crisis pregnancy centers" accountable for how they target and treat pregnant people, promote deceptive claims and unethical practices, and misuse public funds. She appears in Preconceived, a riveting documentary on the hidden world of crisis pregnancy centers, which will enjoy its world premiere as a Documentary Spotlight at SXSW.

She also writes about music and pop culture, and is author of the critically acclaimed book "Ode to Billie Joe" for the 33 1/3 music book series.
