Reid ‘Rusty’ Heffner
Dr. Reid (Rusty) Heffner is a Senior Technical Advisor to Booz Allen Hamilton, a $9B management and technology consulting firm based in McLean, Virginia. Currently Rusty advises Booz Allen’s Climate and Infrastructure Group on strategy related to advanced technologies, including electric vehicles, battery storage, electric vehicle grid integration, and connected/automated vehicle systems. Previously, Rusty led a team of Booz Allen scientists and engineers in developing and managing innovative research and development (R&D) portfolios, including the $1.3B portfolio of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E). Rusty currently serves as a member of the National Academies Transportation Research Board (TRB) Standing Committee on Energy, and also chairs the TRB Subcommittee on Energy and Demand Implications of Connected and Automated Vehicles. Prior to Booz Allen, Rusty held roles in software product development at ThomsonReuters and Manugistics, and investigated consumer preferences for new vehicle technologies at the University of California Davis, where he earned his Ph.D. in Transportation Technology and Policy.
