Eli Crossley
Sixteen-year-old Eli is the lead singer of the band Askew, which is the youngest band to ever to have played at Glastonbury. They performed on the Rabbit Hole stage at Glastonbury 2023.
The Glastonbury opportunity came about when Eli, who has the progressive muscle wasting disease Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), was demonstrating a wearable device on Sky News. The device helps with upper limb movement of people with conditions such as DMD. It was developed by his mother, Emily Reuben, Chief Executive of charity Duchenne UK.
Wearing the device, Eli sang and played the ukulele during the interview, and said that he would like to play Glastonbury one day. This led to a social media campaign to get him to Glastonbury and Askew subsequently received an offer.
In addition to taking part in the panel, Eli will be performing at a music showcase at South by Southwest 2024. He'll be playing the International Day Stage at 2pm, on Wednesday 13 March. Come along!
