Bryce Luchterhand
Bryce and his wife Max have operated the family farm in central Wisconsin since 1973. Bryce worked three years on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona before returning to Wisconsin. He has had a varied career having worked as a dairy farmer, grassroots organizer and county zoning administrator. He was appointed by President Clinton to serve as the Wisconsin State Director of the Farmers Home Administration/ USDA Rural Development, and then served as Director of Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle’s Northern Office, District Representative for Senator Herb Kohl and Deputy Outreach Director for Senator Tammy Baldwin. He has served on the local town board, school board and Clark County Board of Supervisors. Bryce is currently the chairperson of the county Library Committee, a member of the County Housing Authority and is a delegate to the Wisconsin Conservation Congress.
Bryce and Max followed a strong desire to provide assistance to Ukrainian families displaced from their homes by the Russian invasion of their country. They worked through the Welcome Connect website to select a family to sponsor, filled out the appropriate Immigration Service forms and welcomed a husband, wife and two children, ages 3 and 6, to their farm on January 31, 2023. The two families bonded and successfully navigated federal, state, county and local agencies together for such necessities as school enrollment, food, transportation, insurance, and social security cards.
